Business & Management

The Business & Management sector is vast and employs an estimated four million people throughout the UK with around 500,000 people employed in the public services alone.

Our Business Development Team works closely with a large number of employers in this sector to improve their performance and productivity by developing the skills of their staff. Our Business department is accredited by professional bodies, including the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) and the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Child & Adult Care

The Child & Adult Care professions are some of the largest employers in the UK with over 1.7 million people working in health and social care sectors.

Our Business Development Team works closely with a large number of employers in this sector to improve their performance and productivity by developing the skills of their staff.

Construction & Building Services

In the next five years it is expected that the UK construction industry is going to grow by 2.5% every year. 232,000 jobs are expected to be created due to high investment in infrastructure and growth in private housing.

Engineering

By 2022, it is estimated that engineering businesses will need to hire an additional 257,000 people to meet the demands of the UK economy.

We offer a range of training in this sector including Engineering apprenticeships at our Brunel Training Centre. We are proud to work with a wide range of local employers, including: Aircraft Research Association, Axis Electronics, Bourns, Coca-Cola, General Motors, Lockheed Martin, MacDonald Humfrey and Millbrook.

English and Maths

Adult English and maths courses are designed to update your knowledge in key skills needed in everyday life.

We offer courses from Entry Level through to Level 2 (which is the equivalent of GCSE standard). The courses are available at various times and dates and are funded.

First Aid and Health & Safety courses

With Health & Safety regulation as strict as ever it is a legal requirement to ensure that Health & Safety standards are maintained whatever size your business may be.

We work closely with a large number of employers in this sector to improve their performance and productivity by developing the skills of their staff.

Hair & Beauty

There is currently a skills shortage of 32% in the Hair & Beauty industry with a further 17,000 workers needed by 2020.

IT & Computing

We can help you to optimise your business IT systems and drive your business forward, improving efficiency and enabling business growth.

We offer a wide range of professional IT training, including CISCO CCNA, CompTIA Strata, and the Microsoft Office suite. Around 70% of all businesses employ people with STEM skills, including computing and IT.

Land-Based

Surrounded by acres of stunning parkland and woodland at Shuttleworth College, we have a range of Lantra and City & Guilds National Proficiency Tests Council (NPTC) qualifications that will help you to develop the correct and safe skills for carrying out your work.

Our short courses are designed to offer specific training in areas such as tree felling, horticulture and pesticide application.

Logistics & Warehousing

Logistics is the management of the flow of goods, information and other resources, including energy and people, between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet the requirements of consumers.

The UK’s automotive industry is poised for continued growth in both vehicle production and local sourcing of components. More than 5,000 jobs at vehicle and engine producers could be created, along with up to 28,000 in the supply chain, by the early 2020s.
