LIFESTYLE

Support and Interest groups
A great way to meet students with similar interests is through the Support and Interest groups. We have a variety of student led groups from The Q Agenda (LGBTQIA+) and Transform (Trans support). These groups offer students a chance to share experiences while the Black Culture club looks at celebrating and supporting culture and history across our campuses and the Disability Awareness Group – ENCOMPASS, works to champion students of all abilities.

Student Mental Health & Wellbeing
If you are looking to access support or information linked to any area of mental health, physical health and wellbeing the college specialist Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioners are available across all campuses. They can answer questions and provide information, advice and guidance on services that may be able to support you. They can also offer intervention services to get you back on track.

INVOLVEMENT

Student Ambassadors

Being a Student Ambassador can open up doors that can lead to lots of exciting and rewarding opportunities.

Student Ambassador form a huge part of college life for our students with lots of projects taking place across our campuses, all with the aim of promoting positive change within our college and local communities. From representing the college at events to fundraising challenges and engaging with local employers and organisations. There are lots of ways to get involved

More and more employers, universities and colleges are looking for the qualities and experiences that make you stand out from the crowd. Becoming an Ambassador will do just that.

Not only will you meet new people, make new friends and experience new things, but you will develop a number of transferable employability skills that you can use in your career or to get a place at university. These will be identified and presented to you on a certificate of achievement and look great on a CV or job application.

Awareness Events & Themed Months

Throughout the College calendar we run a number of themed months to help share key information that affects students’ lives and include for example Black History Month; Equality & Diversity Month; Freshers’ Fairs; Health & Well-being Month; International Mens Day; International Women’s Day; LGBT History Month; Safer Internet Day; Wear it Pink Day and World Environment Day.

VOICE

At The Bedford College Group, student voice means making sure every learner has the chance to shape their education and influence life at college. It’s about more than giving feedback, it’s about partnership. Students work alongside staff to share ideas, highlight what’s working, and help improve teaching, support, and the overall college experience.

From Course reps and Student Boards, Student Leaders and Roundtables to surveys and our Students’ Union, there are lots of ways for students to get involved. Every student voice matters, and we’re committed to listening, acting, and showing you the difference, your feedback and input makes.

Course Representatives

Students elected by their peers on every course.

They:

  • Collect and share feedback from classmates.
  • Attend Student Boards and other forums.
  • Help shape improvements to teaching, learning and the wider experience.

Student Leaders

Each campus elects Student Leaders annually.

They:

  • Represent their campus at cross‑college meetings and roundtables.
  • Work closely with staff to raise issues and champion improvements.
  • Develop leadership, public speaking and communication skills.

All students who enrol on a course with us automatically become members of our Students’ Union. Being a member provides students with access to clubs and societies and a right to representation. Students can be as involved as they would like to be and can choose to ‘opt out’ at any time.
