Support Work in Schools and Colleges NCFE CACHE Level 2 AwardThe Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools & Colleges has been designed as an introduction to the knowledge and understanding needed to work in a school or college environment. It is aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, and colleges in a variety of roles including administrative roles, site support roles, technical roles, volunteers, and roles that work directly with children and young people in the learning environment.
The qualification is also aimed at a those who are thinking of working in a school or college setting, to provide an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in school or college.
The award covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships.

Entry requirements
Essential:
Learners must be 16 years and over.
Although learners do not have to be volunteering or working in an educational school setting, it is beneficial to support your knowledge and understanding.
What qualification will I gain?
NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges.
How will I be assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods including written assignments, presentations, and professional discussions.
Knowledge based outcomes are assessed using a variety of assessment tasks including assignment, online learning and activities. All assessment methods will be co-ordinated to suit the individual needs of the learner.

Within this qualification, Learners will complete 6 mandatory units, gaining 12 credits, the units within the qualification are:
- SWSC1 Understand schools and colleges as organisations
- SWSC2 Understand children and young people’s development
- SWSC3 Understand communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
- SWSC4 Understand children and young people’s health and safety
- SWSC5 Safeguarding children and young people
- SWSC6 Understand Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
These mandatory units are shared with the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification, providing a direct progression route.

Funding Information
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
