As we begin the academic year, I’m positive that it will be another year of success. Our merger with Central Bedfordshire College has created a regional skills powerhouse, enabling us to provide high-quality education from as far south as Luton up to Corby and beyond.

We are near completion for our wonderful new facilities in Bedford and Corby, and have made a start at Shuttleworth. Our apprenticeship provision has improved against the national trend and we are now 3rd in the table of the biggest colleges and 3rd in the regional table for achievement rates.

At The Bedford College Group, we lead the way regionally on WorldSkills with 67 students entering this year’s competitions.

This year we have been able to celebrate the shortlisting of one of our IT Lecturers in the Pearson UK FE Lecturer of the Year award, won last year by a colleague from our Art & Design team. We were delighted in winning the AoC Beacon Awards Diversity Award for Inclusive Learning Leadership, recognising our innovative practice in championing diversity and inclusion and embedding it within our corporate culture.

Other accolades include taking home 4 awards at the College Marketing Awards including ‘Best of the Best’ out of all College Marketing Teams across the country.
