Vehicle Accident Repair Paint Principles IMI Level 2 Diploma

This Level 2 qualification covers technical needs for today’s motor vehicle repair industry, including the preparation and finishing of accident damaged vehicles. It provides essential knowledge for the vehicle refinishing industry, working on a wide range of materials in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body repair shops.

Entry requirements

You will need:

  • Experience and employment within the motor industry
  • Successful Interview
Course content

This Level 2 qualification covers both theory and practical aspects, including:

  • Preparing metal and pre-painted surfaces
  • The preparation and application of foundation materials
  • Refinishing tools and equipment
  • Rectification of minor paint defects
  • Working with plastic materials and components

You will gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage. This qualification also forms the knowledge component (technical certificate) of the IMI SSC Accident Repair Apprenticeship framework (Paint).

Qualification

IMI Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Repair Paint Principles.

Assessment methods

Your knowledge is assessed by IMI Awards set practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, IMI Awards set on-line and multiple-choice testing and written assessments. The course is 50% workshop-based and 50% theory.

Additional information

You will need to provide your own safety equipment for the courses, including safety footwear, overalls and respirator.

Funding Information

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
