Vehicle Accident Repair Paint Principles IMI Level 3 DiplomaThis Level 3 qualification covers technical needs for today’s motor vehicle repair industry and follows on from the Level 2 Diploma. It provides essential knowledge & skills for the vehicle refinishing industry, working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body repair shops.

Students must have successfully completed a Level 2 Vehicle Accident Repair Paint Principles course.
This Level 3 qualification covers both theory and practical aspects, including:
- The diagnosis and rectifying of paint faults
- Applying topcoats and complete refinishing
- Colour matching and paint mixing
You will gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage. This qualification also forms the knowledge component (technical certificate) of the IMI SSC Accident Repair Advanced Apprenticeship framework (Paint).
Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Repair Paint Principles.
The student’s knowledge is assessed by IMI Awards set practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, IMI Awards set on-line and multiple-choice testing and written assessments. The course is 50% workshop-based and 50% theory.
This Level 3 qualification also prepares technicians for the Vehicle Paint Technician Accreditation assessment at Technician level.
You can also progress onto the IMI Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Automotive Studies.
You will need to provide your own safety equipment for the course, including safety footwear, overalls and respirator.

Funding Information
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over and want to achieve your first full Level 3 qualification (equivalent to an advanced technical certificate, diploma or A-Levels) then this course is free, as part of the National Skills Fund.
Part-time Fee Flow ChartIf you are aged 24 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
