Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools NCFE CACHE Level 2 CertificateThe Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning is designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in school or college. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships. It is aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, and colleges.
Work-based Learning allows students the benefits of gaining a recognised qualification whilst working. All students will have access to an e-portfolio with supporting resources and online lessons as well as the benefit of a one to one allocated assessor on hand to support your learning journey.

Entry requirements
Essential: Learners must be 16 years and over You must be volunteering or working in an educational school setting.
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement in a education setting (school or college) to show competence in both knowledge and skills for the duration of the course. Learners will be assessed in the placement.
What qualification will I gain?
NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
How will I be assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods including written assignments, observation visits, and professional discussions. Knowledge based outcomes can be assessed using a variety of assessment tasks including assignment, online learning and activities.
Performance and skills-based outcomes must be achieved with reference to a real work environment and will include assessor visits to carry out observations in the workplace. All assessment methods will be co-ordinated to suit the individual needs of the learner

Within this qualification, Learners will complete 11 mandatory units, gaining 22 credits, the units within the qualification are:
- SWSC1 Understand schools and colleges as organisations
- SWSC2 Understand children and young people’s development
- SWSC5 Safeguarding children and young people
- STL2C4 Equality, diversity and inclusion in a learning environment for children and young people
- STL2C5 Maintain relationships with children and young people
- STL2C6 Support the health and safety of children and young people
- STL2C7 Support positive behaviour in a learning environment for children and young people
- STL2C8 Contribute to teamwork in a learning environment ·
- STL2C9 Understand children and young people’s play and leisure
- STL2C10 Promote an effective learning environment
- STL2C11 Provide displays in a learning environment
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement in a school setting to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
Placement opportunity should allow for supporting children with English and Maths lessons.

Course progression:
Learners can progress onto the Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
Career progressions:
Upon achievement of this qualification learners will be able to go into the work place as a qualified learning support practitioner.

Funding Information
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
