Overview

Sport, Public Services and Travel Vocational Studies Introductory (Level 1)

This study programme is a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics of the Sport, Public Services and Travel & Tourism industries combined with developing transferable skills such as working with others, being organised and research skills. Successful completion of year one allows for you to pick the vocational route (in either Sport, Public Services or Travel & Tourism) you are most interested in for year two of your study programme.

Need to know

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs grades 9-1 and a keen interest in the subject OR equivalent qualification at Level E3. Other relevant levels of qualification or experience will be considered.

What qualification will I gain?

  • Vocational Studies BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma
  • English & maths qualifications if required

How will I be assessed?

The majority of your work will be assessed mainly through coursework and assignments. Functional Skills and GCSE Maths and English will also be assessed through formal exams.

English and maths:

If you don’t already have GCSE English and maths grade A*-C, we will work with you to help you develop your maths and English skills.

Work experience:

You will also carry out 20 hours of work experience.

  • Personal development skills, study skills and employability skills
  • Additional vocational learning and qualifications

Next steps

Course Progression:

After completing the two years of the study programme you could progress onto a Level 2 study programme in Sport, Public Services or Travel.

Additional information

You will complete at least 20 hours work experience where you will gain valuable experience to put on your CV.

You will also be given opportunities to learn outside of the classroom to help with team building, working with others and communication.

Course costs:

This course has a £50 trip fee.

Funding Information

All full-time Level 1 and Level 2 courses are now FREE for everyone, whatever their age. If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses might still be free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification.
