Aidan

When I was looking at further education options post GCSE I knew a vocational atmosphere would suit me. I came along to an open day at the College and knew that this was where I wanted to go.

My favourite part of the course at College is the construction and design aspects. I’m a Set Designer for our in-house production of Twelfth Night. It’s hard work but a great experience. Being a Set Designer involves everything from coming up with the initial set ideas, liaising with the directors and managing the overall process. It’s a creative job and requires you to think outside the box. We’re also involved in other backstage jobs such as lighting, sound and rigging.

We go on lots of theatre trips, which helps you to see the whole spectrum from new productions to very old productions done in a modern way. I’m able to take lots of new ideas from the productions we go and see for my own set designs here at College.

I’m currently on the waiting list for a Production course at the drama school, RADA, in London after I finish my course here at the College.
