Overview
Outdoor Adventure HNC (Part time)This course is a launch pad for those who have experience in outdoor adventure delivery and wish to further their coaching, teaching instructing and facilitating skills. A key focus of the course is to introduce and enhance management skills in the outdoor adventure, sport and leisure sectors. All modules integrate theory and practical, there will be an expectation to achieve NGB qualifications that are integrated into the course.
Course information
• 48 UCAS points from a BTEC Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma qualification in a relevant subject area studied over a two year period
OR
• 48 UCAS points from relevant A-levels OR equivalent Level 3 qualification
• Applicants should hold a GCSE in English AND Maths at grade 9-4/grade A*-C or equivalent
Entry is subject to a successful interview. We welcome applications from mature students who will be considered individually on experience rather than qualifications.
During this course you will have the option to study a range of units including: risk and safety management in the outdoors, outdoor leadership, expedition planning, managing in an outdoor facility, adventure programming, land/water based activities, use of media and technology in the outdoors, plus a research project.
You will learn through a variety of teaching methods including practical activities, guest speakers, visits to sport and leisure industry facilities and organisations and traditional seminars and research projects. Coursework for assessment includes written reports, presentations, practical observations and timed assignments.

Trips / Residential: £300
Optional trips to include: yachting in the Mediterranean, expeditions in the UK or abroad, skiing and snowboarding, and rock climbing in Spain. Cost varies depending on trip
Uniform: £55 Kit: Wetsuit (5mm) £100, wetsuit boots £30, walking boots £100, waterproof trousers £50, waterproof jacket £75, fleeces, gloves, hats, sports/gym kit.
(If already owned no need to purchase). Travel costs associated with transport to work placement.
