Course Information

Course content

During the course you will study a range of topics, including:

  • How to approach drawing from the figure
  • Using fundamental techniques
  • Line and tonal work
  • How to consider proportion
  • Develop skills in depicting forms.

You can also use this qualification to extend your learning by studying the subject at a more advanced level.

Assessment methods

There is no formal assessment for this course. You will submit your practical work at the end of the course for tutor-led internal assessment.

Further study and career options

On successful completion you can apply to study at advanced level, or degree-level on individual units. Alternatively you can use the course to develop a practical portfolio in order to apply for a HND course.

Additional information

This course is based in the College’s specialist art studios. You will need to purchase a basic set of pencils. These should include 2H, H, HB, B, 2B, 4B, and 6B at least, but may include a wider range. You may also find a personal sketchbook useful for making notes or practicing drawing techniques. Paper will be provided.

Funding Information

Pay by instalments

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
