Life Drawing Workshop

This course will provide you with an introduction to the principles of life drawing, exploring measuring and proportion working from the figure.

Course information

Course content

During the course you will study a range of topics, including:

  • How to approach drawing from the figure
  • Using fundamental techniques
  • Line and tonal work
  • How to consider proportion
  • Develop skills in depicting forms.

You can also use this qualification to extend your learning by studying the subject at a more advanced level.

Assessment methods

There is no formal assessment for this course. You will submit your practical work at the end of the course for tutor-led internal assessment.

Further study and career options

On successful completion you can apply to study at advanced level, or degree-level on individual units. Alternatively you can use the course to develop a practical portfolio in order to apply for a HND course.

Additional information

This course is based in the College’s specialist art studios. You will need to purchase a basic set of pencils. These should include 2H, H, HB, B, 2B, 4B, and 6B at least, but may include a wider range. You may also find a personal sketchbook useful for making notes or practising drawing techniques. Paper will be provided.
