Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice Level 4 Award (6317-41)

These City and Guilds IQA (Internal Quality Assurance) qualifications are for practitioners who internally assure the quality of vocational programmes. There are two different Awards and a Certificate. They replace the V1 Verifiers Award.

Need to know

Entry requirements
Practitioners will need to be qualified/experienced in a vocational area and meet the requirements for quality assurance as specified by the assessment strategy of their vocational area qualification.

This is usually a level 3 qualification and relevant experience. For unit 402 the practitioner will need to be able to monitor and assure the quality of the work of two assessors, each with a minimum of two candidates, through components of a qualification.

For unit 403 the practitioner must be able to plan, allocate and monitor quality assurance for a team.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be by written work, professional discussion, observation of carrying out quality assurance, witness testimony, self-reflection and work products.

Course content

What will I study?

The Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (12 credits).

For practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a centre or organisation, by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors.

  • Unit 401 – Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
  • Unit 402 – Internally assure the quality of assessment

Additional information

This is a specialised qualification and progression options will depend on the practitioners circumstances. The units can be added to later if the practitioner develops their role.
