Electrical Installations (Buildings & Structures) City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 DiplomaThis is the final stage of the technical diploma for candidates who want to work as electricians in the building services engineering sector. This qualification completes the intensive theory aspect of your training, looking in detail at electrical principles and testing and completing your own work.
There are two attendance options for this one-year course: day release one day a week, or two evenings a week, to allow you to attend around your work. The course will allow you to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electrotechnology sector.

Need to know
Entry requirements
To start this course you should have completed the City & Guilds 2365 Level 2 or equivalent, along with having a strong interest in being an electrician.
What qualification will I gain?
Electrical Installations (Buildings & Structures) City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma.
How will I be assessed?
There is a mix of written exams, written assignments and practical assessments.
Course content
What will I study?
This course will build on all areas of study covered in Level 2, looking at the theory behind all aspects of the electrotechnical industry. The course is heavily theory based, and includes in-depth practical inspection and testing as a basis for several of the units covered.
During the course you will study the following units:
- Understanding the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems
- Principles of electrical science
- Electrical installations: fault diagnosis and rectification
- Electrical installations: inspection, testing and commissioning
- Electrical systems design
- Career awareness in building services engineering
Next steps
During or on completion of the course you should be seeking work in the Electrotechnical sector. If students find employment they can progress to complete 2357 Level 3 NVQ. On completion of the diploma you can then progress to any of our CPD short courses.

To take part in this course you will need note-taking equipment, a scientific calculator, current version of the IEE Wiring Regulations and On Site Guide.
