OverviewElectrical Installations (Buildings & Structures) City & Guilds 2365 Level 2 Diploma
This course is the second half of the evening route introduction to the skills you will need to carry out a range of electrical installation activities required to start work in the industry. Units of study will include an introduction to all types of circuits, including the theory and regulations behind it. This is the second year of an evening course, and you will be required to attend two nights a week. The course is designed to give you the required level of understanding and underpinning knowledge to advance on to the Level 3 qualification, on the path to becoming a qualified electrician.
To begin this course you must have completed the evening Level 1 certificate to have the required knowledge and abilities to complete this course.
This course will offer you both practical and theoretical insights into the electrotechnical field of expertise. The practical aspect will be covered by carrying out various types of electrical installations, initially on boards and progressing on to real size as your ability increases, while the theoretical side will be covered in a classroom environment; there will be a 50/50 split between practical and theory.
During the course you will study the following topics:
- Health and safety in building services engineering
- Principles of electrical science
- Electrical installations technology
- Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
- Understanding how to communicate with others within building services engineering
You will be assessed through a combination of written assignments, online exams and practical assessments throughout the duration of the course.
On successful completion of this course you can progress on to the Electrical Installations Level 3 Diploma (City & Guilds 2365). If you find employment during the course you can transfer to the Level 3 City & Guilds NVQ required for becoming a qualified electrician.
To take part in this course you will need steel toe footwear for practical sessions; you will also need to provide your own note-taking equipment and a scientific calculator. The cost of all materials used in practical lessons is included in the enrolment fee.
