Overview

Creative Media Production & Technology Advanced (Level 3)

This Diploma / Extended Diploma will give you the chance to engage with both practical and theoretical aspects of production. You will also gain useful filmmaking skills and develop your knowledge of the media industry. You will be expected to acknowledge and apply industry codes and conventions to their work. This study programme is ideal if you wish to gain a Level 3 qualification and progress to university or employment.

You will learn how to use industry standard software, using the Adobe suite for editing and audio, as well as having access to professional cameras, lighting and audio equipment. You will also have training and access to a fully equipped television and recording studio. The course will offer opportunities to express creativity and individuality throughout multiple projects, as well as developing personal and professional skills that will prepare you for the next step.

Entry requirements

Essential:

4 GCSEs 9 -4, including English

OR

a Level 2 Qualification

Desirable:

GCSE at Level 4 and above in maths and a Level 2 Media Production qualification.

What qualification will I gain?

UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through a series of units at a Pass level, and a Final Major Project, of your choosing, for the overall grade Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Work experience

20 hours of work experience is required for each individual student.

  • Unit 6: Investigating visual production and technology
  • Unit 7: Investigating interactive media production and technology
  • Unit 8: Developing a creative media production project (FMP)

  • Unit 9: Characteristics and contexts in media and communication
  • Unit 10: Engaging with an audience in creative media production
  • Unit 11: Preparing for progression in creative media production
  • Unit 12: Specialist study in creative media production
  • Unit 13: Extended project in creative media production

If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses might still be free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification.
