Assessing Competence in the Work Environment Level 3 Award (6317-31)These City and Guilds TAQA (The Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance) qualifications are for practitioners who assess vocational programmes. There are a range of Awards and a Certificate and the qualification replaces the A1 Assessor Award.

Course Information
Practitioners will need to be qualified/experienced in a vocational area and meet the requirements for assessment as specified by the assessment strategy of their vocational area qualification. This is usually a level 3 qualification and relevant experience.
To complete combinations containing Unit 302 students must be able to assess two candidates on two occasions each in a work environment against vocational standards/criteria approved by the organisation.
To complete combinations containing Unit 303 students must be able to assess two candidates on two occasions each in a non-work environment against vocational standards/criteria approved by the organisation.
The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (9 credits)
For practitioners who assess the demonstration of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Unit 301 Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Unit 302 Assess occupational competence in the work environment
Assessment will be by written work, professional discussion, observation of carrying out assessment, witness testimony self-reflection and work products.
It may be possible to progress onto the Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Qualifications.
Funding Information
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
