Overview
Animation HND (Full time)This course aims to develop the utilisation and application of animation techniques to help enhance ideas and concepts in both their development and presentation in order to help set apart a portfolio compared to more traditional options.
Through engagement of the course, skills surrounding preparation for the industry will be develop, looking at presentation of ideas as well as being able to work within group settings.
We uniquely benefit from being located in Bedford due to being a short train/bus journey from key animation and advertising hubs in the UK; London, Cambridge, Oxford, and Milton Keynes.
As a combined pathway course, you’ll be shown a range of creative practices form multidisciplined lecturers, closely reflecting the intertwined nature of the digital creative industry as it is now compared to the segmented structure of many other similar courses.

Need to know
Entry requirements
To join the course, you will need a HNC within either Art & Design or Creative Media Production. An equivalent Level 4 qualification within the subject area with an accompanying portfolio of work will also be accepted.
What qualification will I gain?
Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND – The Animation Industry.
How will I be assessed?
Students graded on through a series of assignments, individually graded and summed together at the end of the academic year to provide a final grade.
Feedback is provided throughout to help develop and enhance work produced.

- B1 Personal Professional Development – 170 GLH
- B2 Professional Project – 310 GLH
Next steps
Course progression:
HND qualification entitles progression internally to
UoN Level 6 top Up Degree in Visual Communication
You may also wish to progress to University entering at Year 1 or 2 of a degree program.
