Adv App - Team Leader/Supervisor (Standard)

A Team leader or ​supervisor is a first line management role, with operational and project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.

Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Typical job titles: 

Supervisor, Team leader, Project officer, Shift supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift manager

Course information

Entry requirements

Individual employers set the selection criteria, but this is likely to include 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English, although some employers will accept other relevant qualifications and experience, including a relevant Level 2 qualification. Apprentices without English or Maths at Level 2 must achieve this prior to taking the end point assessment.

Course content

A Level 3 Diploma in Principles of Management and Leadership consists of the following units:

  • Self-awareness
  • Management of self
  • Decision making
Assessment methods

Knowledge exam interview and discussion for end point assessment on portfolio of evidence, CPD and project.

Qualifications

You will gain:

  • Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship.
Further study and career options

On completion, apprentices may choose to register as Associate Members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of leadership and management, to support their professional career development and progression.

Additional information

CMI Level 3 Diploma in Principles of Management and Leadership can be completed alongside at an additional cost.
