Matthew

I love acting because I enjoy taking on different personas – it’s fun to be who you want to be! Although I always knew I wanted to come to college rather than study A-Levels, it has had so much more to offer than I originally thought.

The College invited the professional theatre company behind the London production, Frantic, to come in and put on a taster session. I was one of only 12 out of 100 students to get through the initial stage and attend four days in London getting this variety show ready for production. One exercise we had to do for the taster was to pretend there was tar on our bodies and try to get it off, while set to music. Once in London we were given various stage roles from lighting to sound and curtain operating.

Our tutors are very supportive and provide positive criticism and advice, as they are all from theatre backgrounds. There is a lot of opportunity at College to develop in your own way, but with high standards still in place.

I’m considering going to drama school when this course finishes. After that I’d like to get into a theatre-based role and become an Actor one day.
