Accountancy AAT (Level 4)

This Level 4 course is the final part of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) training programme, and will develop your accountancy skills to a high level. On successful completion of this course you can apply to become a full member of the AAT professional body, and use the designatory letters MAAT. You can also progress on to higher level professional accountancy qualifications, and may be eligible for exemption from the foundation stage exams of all the UK chartered accountancy bodies (ICAEW, CIMA and ACCA).

Course information

Entry requirements

In order to begin this course you will need an AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accountancy. Entry will also be subject to a successful interview.

Course content

During this course you will study a range of topics, including:

  • Financial statements of limited companies
  • Manage Accounting Budgeting
  • Management Accounting decision and Control
  • Synoptic Assessment
  • Personal tax
  • Business tax.

You will also study essential Core Skills.

Assessment methods

You will be assessed throughout the study programme, via both computer-based assessments and computer-based examinations.

You will gain:

AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting Level 4

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this study programme you can progress into employment as an Accounting Technician who are skilled staff employed in jobs ranging from clerks to accounts department managers. They are increasingly required in industry and commerce, so if you have AAT qualifications at any level your career prospects will be excellent. You could also continue your studies by progressing on to the professional examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA).

Additional information

Additional independent study outside of College will be regularly expected. The professional examinations require a high standard of preparation and considerable commitment if success is to be achieved. In addition to the course fees you will also be required to pay £250 to cover the costs of books, and £50 for enrichment activities/trips. The course fee covers the cost of one exam for all units, so re-sits will need to be paid for if qualifying conditions have not been met. An additional £50 resource fee will also need to be paid on induction.

Funding Information

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
