Members of The Bedford College Group showcased our innovative approach to learning at the Creating a Scientific Superpower 2025 conference, held on 5 June 2025 at the QEII Conference Centre in London.

Organised by the Oxford Cambridge Supercluster and Bidwells, the event brought together leading scientists, government ministers, business leaders and investors for a full day of keynote speeches, panel discussions and networking focused on developing the United Kingdom’s national science and innovation ecosystem.

The Bedford College Group participated as the only Further Education provider, showcasing the innovative use of technology within the college, with a focus on delivering high impact at low cost. The exhibit featured virtual reality experiences, 3D printing, artificial intelligence research demonstrations and drone technology. Giant 3D printed models of King Kong and Godzilla were also on display, drawing attention and serving as a popular photo opportunity among attendees.

Conference attendance provides the opportunity for our staff to share best practice and continue to develop their knowledge to keep The Bedford College Group at the forefront of modern technology and science for its students and ensuring staff skills remain up to date.

Key sessions included a keynote address by Lord Patrick Vallance, who emphasised the importance of scaling world class science and technology firms, strengthening infrastructure and adopting mission driven approaches across government. Panels explored topics such as increasing investment in innovation, driving growth beyond the Oxford Cambridge corridor and advancing the economy through artificial intelligence.

The event underlined the UK’s ambition to build a globally competitive innovation ecosystem. This is closely aligned with The Bedford College Group’s commitment to accessible, forward-thinking education amongst the new frontier of technology.
