The Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce hosted a membership event at Tresham College, Wellingborough in October.
As a Platinum Partner of the Chamber, Tresham College, part of The Bedford College Group plays an integral part within the events and businesses involved with the locality.
Spaces across The Bedford College Group are ideal for local businesses and organisations to host membership meetings or conferences where local business owners and representatives can network and nurture business relationships within the locality.
In October, members from throughout the county enjoyed a breakfast event titled ‘Maximise your membership’. Principal Shaun Cook addressed the attendees, giving background about the Group and outlining how employers can collaborate with students and their future opportunities.
Following the networking discussions and Principals’ welcome, members undertook a guided tour of the extensive facilities, seeing students gain hands-on experience with industry level staff.
Not only do employers have the opportunity to meet students and view the facilities at events like these, but they also help the Group to achieve its wider vision of enhancing educational leadership. This is because the Group can use employers as a social listening tool in order to provide a better and more comprehensive service to local employers. In this way, ensuring that employers have a say within the curriculum means that student skills and competency is up to date and ready for the future workforce. In turn, this helps to strengthen social and economic mobility and directly address the national ‘skills gap’.
Events Manager at Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce, Kate Denne, said:
“Our partnership with Tresham College and The Bedford College Group is an invaluable part of the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce’s mission to support and connect businesses across the region. Collaborating with local higher education institutions provides a unique opportunity for businesses to engage directly with the next generation of talent. Events like these allow members to explore the college’s exceptional facilities, interact with students, and discover opportunities for apprenticeships, work experience, and meaningful collaboration. By making these connections, we strengthen the bond between education and industry, driving growth and innovation in our local economy.”
