Pride in Dunstable - Central Bedfordshire College Presents the Town’s First-Ever Pride Event

People celebrating Pride Month

To celebrate Pride Month, Central Bedfordshire College, facilitated by Dunstable Town Council, hosted the town’s first ever “Pride in Dunstable”.

Having taken place on June 7 at Grove Park in Dunstable, this historic event aims to celebrate individuality and bring the local community together for an afternoon of inclusivity, entertainment and family fun.

Pride in Dunstable celebrates the vibrant LGBTQ+ communities and the diversity that makes the town unique. Organised by Central Bedfordshire College, the event offered a fun and meaningful day for everyone. A wide variety of activities and performances took place, aimed to bring people together to celebrate Dunstable’s diverse community.

 The event featured:

  • A Pride Procession through the heart of Dunstable
  • Performances by Central Bedfordshire College students, showcasing local talent
  • A Drag Show with individual performances
  • Dancers and DJ sets spinning Pride party anthems
  • A selection of food and drink vendors, offering a range of options
  • Face painting, mini fairground attractions and inflatables for families and children

Principal of Central Bedford College, Susan Hadfield said:

“As a college we sit at the heart of the community in Dunstable, and I am really excited that we are organising this event with help from Dunstable Town Council. Our students are busy planning and preparing for the event and are particularly looking forward to taking part in the Pride procession. We hope this will be the first of many Pride events in the town.”

The Bedford College Group’s very own Group Head of Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Ashley Spiers helped to organise the event.

 Ashley said,

“We have lots of contacts in the area, so this event is about bringing all of those people together. We want everyone to be able to show their colours and support people from our diverse communities. The best way to do that is through visibility – showing up and being loud and proud where everyone is welcome. If possible, we would love to make this an ongoing annual event.”

Central Bedfordshire College want to thank everyone who helped make this event a huge success and all participants who have made history together in Dunstable.
