The Bedford College Group Achieves ‘Good’ Following Ofsted Inspection

OFSTED group

In December, The Bedford College Group was awarded a ‘Good’ rating across all areas and sites following its Ofsted inspection.

The official report highlights the Group’s commitment to equipping students and apprentices with the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed for successful careers.

Inspectors praised the Group’s teaching staff for their strong industry experience, using real-world examples to enhance curriculum content. They also commended the effective support for students with education and health care plans, ensuring all students receive the guidance needed to thrive.

Senior leaders were recognised for their strong engagement with employers and stakeholders at local, regional, and national levels. The report noted how the Group works collaboratively to identify priority skills needs and create accessible pathways into employment for those furthest from education and training. The college was also acknowledged as a trusted civic partner, responsive to the needs of its communities.

Yiannis Koursis OBE, CEO of The Bedford College Group, celebrated the achievement:

“We are delighted with the grading of ‘Good’. As the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, the rating is not only good news for the Group, but also great news for our students, our communities, and the businesses who will benefit from a skilled, talented workforce.”

The Group remains focused on maintaining high standards and continuing to support students while strengthening partnerships with industry and the wider community. Work has already begun on building on the foundations judges as Good by Ofsted to continue to on a journey towards Outstanding at the next inspection.
