Our volleyball players compete at the very highest levels of college sport.
We compete in the East Midlands league, the National Volleyball Cup and numerous other national and regional competitions. We don’t just compete – we win! Recent victories include winning matches at the College National Championships. Recently our volleyball team competed against (and beat!) a touring team from Argentina. What a fantastic experience. Similar events are planned for the year ahead.
Our coach has developed successful volleyball teams for many years. You don’t win competitions without great coaches.
Meet the experts:
Matt Lambert
Since joining the college in 2008 as a Sport Lecturer, Matt has been an integral part of our team, combining his love for teaching with his passion for sport. It was through his leadership of the college’s sports program that his enthusiasm for volleyball truly took off.
As a Level 2 Volleyball Coach, Matt has achieved remarkable success. He led the women’s volleyball team to two triumphs at the AoC East Midlands Regional Tournament, earning spots at the prestigious AoC National Championships where they secured 7th and 5th place finishes. His coaching excellence extended to the men’s team, guiding them to victory in the College Regional Finals in 2019-20. Unfortunately, their chance to shine on the national stage was curtailed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Matt is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, where players of all abilities feel valued and inspired to reach their potential. His passion and commitment continue to elevate volleyball at the college to new heights.
