The University Centre at Tresham College is undergoing an expansion in the Department of Science and Computing.
A new Head has been appointed with extensive experience of development in the subject areas. Dr Pamela Watt has qualifications in Medicine and Computing and has come from her role as Head of Operations in the Cyber Security Centre at the University of Warwick.
“There is a core team of excellent lecturers at The Bedford College Group, of which Tresham College is a part, with experience of delivering academic and vocational qualifications. The three Tresham College sites at Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough ensure that opportunities are available for a wide population to access quality education and training.
“The digital skills shortage means that students have real employment prospects after their studies with above average salaries. Also, with the availability of part-time courses Tresham College offers the opportunity for people in employment to upskill or change careers.”
said Dr Watt.
Enhancing digital training
A recent report identified that “there were more than two million UK job vacancies in tech last year, more than any other labour area, but an industry coalition says nearly 12 million workers lack essential digital skills.”*
Employers are already recognizing the value of apprenticeships and the new HTQ qualifications which are coming on board across The Bedford College Group.
Dr Watt will be based at the Corby campus but working across Kettering and Wellingborough to enhance digital training.
