One of the greatest challenges facing the world is climate change, with rising temperatures and severe weather threatening the existence of the planet. In response, the UK government has set a target for the country to become net zero by 2050 (Net Zero Strategy: Build Back Greener 1) and has ambitious plans to lead the way globally.

The Bedford College Group are committed to the UN Sustainable Development Agenda, providing opportunities for our communities to develop their knowledge and understanding of the importance of nature, sustainability, and the causes and impact of climate change. Our free Green Skills courses help you turn this knowledge into positive action, allowing you to train, retrain or upskill and develop the skills needed for a greener future.

We have several courses to choose from, including; Decarbonisation, Green Energy & Heating, Green Skills and Careers and Understanding Climate Change & Environmental Awareness.

Each course lasts up to 16 weeks and can be started at any time throughout the year. These free courses are completed though an online learning platform at times that suit you, so you can balance your day-to-day life.

Green Skills and Careers

Whilst the green economy is growing, there remains a gap between available jobs and the skills readily available in the labour market. Our courses aim to make it easier for job seekers to navigate this growing aspect of the domestic economy and provide a comprehensive overview of environmental sustainability in 2024 and beyond. This includes learning about and exploring key concepts, interactive briefs, the United Nations’ development goals, and so much more.
