Women's Hairdressing Level 2 DiplomaThe VTCT Skills Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; the creative art of cutting or dressing women’s hair, how to provide effective shampooing and conditioning services, the artistic skill of colouring and lightening hair and how to provide a good consultation service for your clients.
The VTCT Skills Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is the ideal starting point for anyone who wants to begin a professional career in the hairdressing industry. It combines essential foundational skills with creative, hands on training that prepares learners to work with real clients in real salon environments.

VTCT Skills Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing.
Assessment methods
There are a variety of different assessment methods used to meet the criteria of the awarding body.
There is a written assessment or quiz, with every unit. Some units have an external, multiple choice, exam and for the practical assessments. There are several assessed observations, with different units. These MUST be carried out on realistic clients.

Mandatory Units
UV20483 – Follow Health & Safety Practice in the salon
UV20484 – Working in the hair industry
UV20386 – Client consultation for hair services
UV20488 – Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
UV20486 – Colour and lighten hair
UV20485 – Cut women’s hair
UV10345 – The art of dressing hair
Optional units:
- Display stock to promote sales in a salon
- Salon reception duties
- Promote products and services to clients in a salon
- Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
What skills will be gained?
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services.
