The objective of the course is to gain knowledge and understanding of autism including: adopting a positive approach to supporting those with autism, Legislative framework, range of therapeutic interventions and support available and the support worker’s role and responsibilities relating to safeguarding.

The units you will study are:
- Autism in context
- Positive behavioural support for individuals with autism
- Understand support and management for transitions for individuals with autism and co-occurring conditions
- Communication and social interactions with individuals with autism
You will gain:
- NCFE LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN UNDERSTANDING AUTISM
There are several next steps that you can take. You can go on to study another Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, you could enrol on to our Access to Higher Education course or other further education courses (subject to entry requirements).
By completing this course, you will gain the skills and knowledge that employers find desirable. It is also a great opportunity for continuous professional development.
Please note that an administration charge of £100 will be charged if learners do not complete the course within the allocated 16 weeks.

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over and want to achieve your first full Level 3 qualification (equivalent to an advanced technical certificate, diploma or A-Levels) then this course is free, as part of the National Skills Fund.Part-time Fee Flow Chart
If you are aged 24 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.Find out more
