Funding Information

All full-time Level 1 and Level 2 courses are now FREE for everyone, whatever their age. If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses are still free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification. If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. You can also pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.

Course information

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grades 9- 4 or equivalent.

Course content

This course will provide you with the opportunity to explore, develop and test your creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating, demanding and supportive. You will work alongside industry professionals exploring the various aspects of the production arts industry.

You will learn how to:

  • Use SFX make-up
  • Create period make-up and hairstyles
  • Body art
  • Prosthetics
  • Wig and pastiche making

Alongside the extensive practical skills you will obtain, you will also prepare materials to become a freelancer such as a website, business cards and portfolio whilst also ensuring you understand insurances and policies you will need to be a freelancer. You will also complete work placements throughout your duration on the course.

  • Performance & Production Arts UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma • English and maths qualifications if required.
Further study and career options

This Level 3 qualification can help you find employment, or give you the UCAS points needed for university. You will be qualified to enter into a career in the media hair and make-up industry or complete further study in this specialised area.

Entry is subject to a successful interview and tutor reference. It is important that you have a mature and professional attitude. Personal and professional appearance must be of the highest standard throughout the programme.

Are there any additional costs?

You will be required to purchase a kit and uniform in order to undertake our Hair & Beauty courses (approx. £400)

There will be 2 to 3 educational trips per year approx. £30 per trip.
