The Transport of Animals By Road (Short Journeys) NPTC Level 2 Award

The NPTC Level 2 Award in the Transport of Animals by Road (Short Journeys) is a qualification for individuals who transport farm animals or horses over 65km (approximately 40 miles) and up to 8 hours in connection with an economic activity. This qualification covers legal requirements, journey planning, vehicle suitability, animal welfare, and handling during transport.

  • Covers legal aspects of animal transport, including driver responsibilities, vehicle requirements, and animal fitness to travel.
  • Addresses animal welfare considerations during transport, such as space allowances, stocking densities, and identifying signs of stress.
  • Emphasises the importance of effective planning to minimise stress and ensure animal well-being

Additional information

You will be required to supply your own suitable PPE including: steel toe capped boots, and overalls.
