Textile Design Intermediate (Level 2)

This UAL Awarding Body program will introduce the skills, knowledge and for employment. Based in a dedicated building equipped with the latest industry relevant resources and taught by staff with a high degree of industry experience in their field. This course will allow you to explore textile design, giving you the skills you need to progress on to a level 3 Creative Arts course.

This will give you a good understanding of the techniques and processes used for textile design. You will be able to work digitally as well as manipulate fabric create new textiles using a range of methods including eco-dyeing.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs grades 9-4 OR equivalent qualification at Level 1.

Assessment methods

This qualification is assessed through project-based assignments.

Throughout you will be given critical, holistic feedback supporting your progress.

Course content

The units you will cover are:

  • Unit 1 Introduction to materials, processes and technical skills in art and design
  • Unit 2 Introduction to contextual research in art and design
  • Unit 3 Introduction to drawing skills
  • Unit 4 Introduction to communication skills in art and design
  • Unit 5 Solving 2D creative problems
  • Unit 6 Solving 3D creative problems
  • Unit 7 Solving time-based creative problems
  • Unit 8 Developing and producing a personal project in art and design
