Media student with camera filming Bedford College

Overview

Television & Film HNC (Full time)

Higher National Certificate in Film and Television (HNC) is a one-year course.

This course is perfect for anyone interested in single-camera location or studio shooting for both scripted and unscripted productions. If you want to gain the knowledge and skills to work on dramas or documentaries for television, streaming networks, or film, this is a good place to start. The course will allow you to explore different techniques associated with film and television production then put these into practice via your practical assessments and production management.

The course combines classroom teaching with hands-on experience using film equipment in studios and on location shoots. You will be expected to analyse, write, and comment about different types of productions. You will also collaborate in groups with other students on practical tasks and take responsibility for your role in the production. You will be encouraged to try different aspects of production (camera, sound, lighting and editing) and find your skillset.
