Paige
I’ve played football since I was young and am on the College girls’ team. I’ve always had a passion for sport, but would also love to work with children. This study programme is helping me to achieve my goal of working in a school as a PE Assistant or similar.
I decided to start at Level 2 to build up my confidence before the Level 3. At the end of Level 2 we were the first year to be offered the YMCA Fitness Instructing qualification. It included a unit on Fitness for Children, so I thought I would give it a go and I’m really glad I did.
I love learning about the different opportunities in sport, as well as the anatomy and physiology of the human body; it’s so interesting. We also learn about the industry itself, and health and safety regulations – everything we need to go on and get a career in sport.
My tutors are very supportive and have helped me become more confident. There is more theory work at Level 3, but they always make it easy to understand. Plus we have a lot of fun! We recently went on a beach rugby trip to Chichester!
I’ve also had some work experience in a primary school where I was shadowing the PE teacher. This was a really good opportunity for me and will help with getting into a job or on to a university course after College.
