Sport Introductory Diploma (Level 1)The Level 1 Diploma in Sport is designed around practical skills and tasks that place an emphasis on students demonstrating what they can do rather than what they know in theory. The qualification gives the opportunity to acquire and develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills in the sports sector.
There are a wide range of activities on offer as part of the course including trips and guest speakers. You will be able to take part in sporting activities as part of your study and attend external tournaments.

Entry requirements
Essential: 3 GCSE’s 9-1 and a keen interest in the subject.
Desirable: Additional GCSEs.
What qualification will I gain?
Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Sport.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed internally with no exams. Assessment is a mixture of practical and written work.
All GCSE re-takes alongside will be assessed through formal exams.

What skills will I gain?
As part of the programme, you will gain skills in a variety of areas including coaching, communication and organisation as well as the specific sports skills that will come as part of the curriculum.

Course progression:
On successful completion of the study programme, you will be able to progress onto a Level 2 Sports Diploma.
Career progression:
Please also indicate average salary expectations) Sports students are commonly employed as Sports coaches and fitness instructors as well as leisure assistants and eventually leisure managers. Average salary for these roles is £15k-35K

Funding Information
All full-time Level 1 and Level 2 courses are now FREE for everyone, whatever their age. If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses might still be free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification.
