Safe use of Stump Grinders City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award

This course will cover the safe operation and maintenance of stump grinder machines. The course is designed to enable learners to maintain, prepare and operate a Stump Grinder. Candidates will be instructed to the level expected to gain the competence in the City and Guilds Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of a Stump Grinder.

The course is suitable for anyone wanting to Prepare, Operate and Maintain a stump grinder for the purpose of removing unwanted tree stumps.

Entry requirements

Essential:

You must be 16 years old or over to undertake this course.

As this is a short and very intense course, you must be able to proficiently operate powered machinery used during the training.

Course content

Areas covered:

  • The health and safety requirements for operating a stump grinder
  • How to prepare and operate a stump grinder
  • How to carry out a risk assessment on a stump grinder
  • How to prepare the equipment and site for stump grinder operations
  • How to operate a stump grinder
  • How to carry out maintenance on a stump grinder

 

Qualification

City & Guilds Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Stump Grinders.

Assessment methods

The assessment is undertaken with either the trainer or an independent assessor and will be made up of both practical assessment and one to one questioning. The recommended duration for assessment is approximately 1.5 to 3 hours.

Additional information

This course is trained and assessed on site at College, however we are able to offer training and assessment to groups within industry settings following assessment of the facilities. Please contact the business development team to discuss your requirements.

You will be offered the correct PPE for this course (with the exception of safety footwear, which must be supplied by the trainee/candidate). Robust outdoor clothing should be worn, ideally coveralls or a boiler suit.

Any other tools and equipment required will be listed on the joining instructions.  These will be emailed to you a few weeks before the course is due to start – please contact us to confirm you have the required items.

Funding Information

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
