Safe Application of Pesticides Self-Propelled, Mounted, Trailed Horizontal Boom Spray City & Guilds Level 2 Award

Specifically for those who wish to use either self propelled, mounted or horizontal boom sprayers as part of their daily role. The qualification will be awarded to Candidates who achieve the required level of competence in a PA1 course of which you can then move onto a PA2. The PA2 course is for any operator who is required to spray Plant Protection Products Via a mounted or self propelled sprayer.

Shuttleworth College has a range of modern farm equipment and a dedicated sprayer used for assessments on PA2 course. You will be studying on the main college farm site and apply theory in a work setting.

Essential: Pesticide application 1 (Passed)

What qualification will I gain?

City & Guilds Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticides Using Self Propelled, Mounted, Trailed Horizontal Boom Sprayers (PA2)

How will I be assessed?

You will undertake one day of training and then be required to attend a further day of assessment, the assessment is practical based with a question and answer section. You will be expected to be practically competent for your assessment. Assessment dates are booked following the main training day is complete (we cannot confirm the assessment date will be on the following day after the training

Course content

You will study:

  • Know the legislative and safety regulations relating to application equipment
  • Be able to assess the environmental factors relating to the mixing and application site
  • Be able to read and interpret product information
  • Be able to prepare and calibrate the applicator
  • Be able to operate the application equipment
  • Know how to carry out post-operational procedures

Additional information

For your training and assessment, you will be required to bring with you PPE, this includes Steel Toe capped boots and Overalls.

You should also bring a pen and note book for note taking.
