Safe Application Of Pelleted Or Granular Pesticides-Mounted Or Trailed Applicators City & Guilds Level 2 Award (PA4)If your job involves applying pesticides in a commercial role then you are legally required to hold an appropriate Certificate of Competence by the Control of Pesticide Regulations.
This qualification is designed specifically for those who wish to use either a slug pelleted (PA4S) or granular (PA4G) applicator which can be mounted or trailed as part of their daily role. At the time of booking please let us know if you require PA4S or PA4G.

Entry requirements
Achieved the Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides (PA1).
You must be 16 years old or over to undertake this course.
As this is a short course, you must be able to proficiently operate and drive the vehicle being used during the training.
What qualification will I gain?
City and Guilds Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pelleted or Granular Pesticides using Mounted or Trailed Applicators
Assessment
This course is delivered over 1 day with the assessment taking place the day after training. Testing is carried out by an independent City & Guilds assessor.
Course content
What will I study?
To successfully achieve this course, you will need to complete and pass an independent assessment comprising of observation of practical performance and testing of underpinning knowledge.

This course will cover:
- Legal requirements
- Environmental risks
- Understanding the label
- Applicator controls and components
- Preparation of prime mover and equipment
- Safe driving
- Calibration
- Mechanical defects
- Measuring and mixing pesticides
- Completion of application record sheets
- Cleaning, storage and disposal procedures
To take part in this course you must bring PPE (personal protective equipment) and other tools and equipment as listed on the joining instructions. These will be emailed to you a few weeks before the course is due to start – please contact us to confirm you have the required items.

Funding Information
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
