Preparing to work in Early Years (Level 1)This qualification is designed to stimulate interest and encourage the learners’ understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for young children. It is aimed at a range of learners, including young people needing to develop life skills as well as those who are thinking of working in childcare.

What qualification will I gain?
Level 1 Award in Preparing to work in Early Years.
How will I be assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks* such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board.
Coursework throughout the year with Achieved/ Not yet Achieved criteria.

Career progression:
Although the qualification does not qualify learners to work with children it does support them in preparing for the “next steps” either in training or moving towards the world of work.

Funding Information
All full-time Level 1 and Level 2 courses are now FREE for everyone, whatever their age. If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses might still be free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification. Whether you need to pay a fee and how much will be dependent on the programme you choose to study. For more information call 0345 658 8990.
