Need to know

Entry requirements:

Essential: A level 2 qualification in Plumbing or heating (8202, 6035 or equivalent). A strong commitment to achieve a level 3 in Plumbing.

Desirable: Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and maths.

What qualification will I gain?

City and Guilds Level 3 Technical Certificate in Plumbing.

How will I be assessed?

  • Externally set end of year theory exam
  • Externally set practical synoptic assessment

You will study:

  • Unit 331: Cold water system planning and design
  • Unit 332: Hot water system planning and design
  • Unit 333: Central heating system planning and design
  • Unit 334: Sanitation system planning and design
  • Unit 335: Environmental technology systems
  • Unit 336; Site procedures and planning

Next steps

Course progression:

Students can progress onto an apprenticeship (9189)

Career progressions:

Once fully qualified plumbers can expect a starting wage of £35,000 – £40,000 per year dependant on company and location.
