Plumbing Advanced (Level 3)This qualification is for students who are interested in developing technical and professional skills, leading to meaningful employment in the plumbing industry. Students will learn about complex cold, hot, sanitation, central heating systems and environmental technologies. The course covers fault finding, commissioning and safe and efficient running of plumbing systems.
This course will enable students to transition into the plumbing industry with a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification. Students will learn how to plan and design hot, cold, heating and sanitation systems and environmental technologies.
Students benefit from gaining a higher level qualification in plumbing that can lead to a wider range of employment opportunities.

Essential:
- GCSE maths and English grades 4 or above
- A nationally recognised Level 2 plumbing qualification
The qualification
8202- 35 Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Plumbing Studies
How will I be assessed?
- 1 Theory exam, externally set and marked.
- 1 Synoptic assignment, externally set and internally marked before moderation
Course content
What will I study?
You will study:
- Domestic central heating systems planning and design
- Principles and requirements of environmental technology systems
- Domestic sanitation system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques
- Cold water systems planning and design
- Hot water systems planning and design
- Building services site procedures and planning
Next steps
Completion of this course can lead to a higher level apprenticeship, on successful completion of the apprenticeship learners would be recognised by the industry as a ‘competent plumber’.
This could lead to the following employment opportunities :
- Plumbing and heating engineer
- Domestic heating installer
Average salary expectations start at £30,000 but can increase with experience to £46,000.

Equipment needed:
Students are required to wear safety boots and work trousers in the workshop.
