Need to know
Entry requirements
You will be working in Human Resources. You will need to be able to demonstrate and use good written and verbal communication skills as well as basic IT skills, particularly use of word, spreadsheet, and presentation packages.
Ideally students will hold GCSEs including English GCSE (full qualification) minimum Grade 4 or grade C. If your first language is not English, learners should have a minimum of ESOL Level 2 (or equivalent).
This course is ideal if you have already studied the Level 3 Certificate in Human Resources or People Practice. If you have not studied recently and you are not working in Human Resources, or are in an administrator position, the CIPD Level 3 may be more appropriate as a stepping-stone to Level 5.

Assessment is through assignments for each module.

What will I study?
You will study the following seven units:
Core units:
- Organisational performance and culture in practice
- Evidence-based practice
- Professional behaviours and valuing people
Specialist units:
- Employment relationship management
- Talent management and workforce planning
- Reward for performance and contribution
Optional units:
Specialist employment law.
Next steps
Completion of this course would improve job prospects and earning potential. You may wish to continue to study at Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management or Strategic Learning and Development.
Once you have enrolled, you will join the CIPD as a Student Member and you will need to remain in membership for the duration of your studies. When you complete your qualification, you’ll be awarded CIPD Associate Membership, and the designation “Assoc CIPD” after your name. This establishes your credibility as a professional, raises your profile and opens doors to new job opportunities.
Additional information
Learners will need a laptop/desktop with access to the internet. You may wish to purchase CIPD publications written for the course, however, there are some available in the college library.
This course requires substantial self-study time and good time management to meet the course deadlines.
