Bedford College Painting & Decorating Level 1
Construction

Emily

I left school four years ago and went to do a multi-skill construction course at another college. After that I worked in catering for a couple of years, before deciding that I wanted to return to education. I enrolled on to the Catering course here at Bedford College but later moved over to Painting & Decorating.

The best thing about Bedford College is the support I get from my tutors. I enjoy coming into College each day and I like the repetitive nature of the work and the structure it gives me.

We then get to apply our new skills to real life projects. We have painted some rooms in the Tower Block on campus after they were renovated from kitchens to computer rooms, and have also painted an old lab in the College’s Brundtland building.

I’m very happy that I decided to move back into construction and I’m looking forward to progressing on to the next level before finding full-time work as a Painter and Decorator.
