Overview
Painter & Decorator (ST0295) Level 2 ApprenticeshipPainters and Decorators operate in domestic and commercial properties and undertake the decoration and protection of buildings. Properties include houses, schools, offices, hospitals factories and construction sites. Working internally or externally they work individually and/or as part of a team applying water-borne and/or solvent-borne paint coatings and wallcoverings.
They have good knowledge of paint coatings and wallcoverings and understand and comply with statutory, safety and environmental requirements. They are responsible for their own work achieving a high-quality finish at the appropriate pace. They are good problem solvers and communicators and are able to interact effectively with colleagues, clients and associated trades.
Course Information
27 months.
Bedford – Block release 2 weeks.
September and October.
However, you may be able to start your apprenticeship within the workplace first.
When offered job role and start date agreed with employer.
As soon as Apprentice starts employment. Arrangements will be made to start apprenticeship and college delivery.
- Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
- Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
- Knowledge of construction technology
- Erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms
- Prepare surfaces for decoration
- Apply paint systems by brush and roller
- Apply standard papers to ceilings and walls
- Produce specialist decorative finishes

Level 2 Functional Skills maths and English
GCSE grade 4 and above maths and English
Other requirements…
Essential:
Level 1 Equivalent or Grade 3 and above maths and English
Desirable:
Level 1 Equivalent or Grade 3 and above maths and English
- Learning a variety of skills to enable the apprentice to be able to develop and complete their Apprenticeship and EPA
- 80% training in the workplace
- 20% off the job training
- College attendance
- Regular 10/12/week Meetings with Training Coordinator and Apprentice to discuss progress and set SMART targets throughout apprenticeships

- High vis
- Tools (optional to bring into college)
