NCFE Level 2 Technical Specialist in Adverse Childhood Experiences in Early Years (Certificate)This qualification will provide learners with an opportunity to develop an understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) relevant to their current or future roles and will equip them with basic understanding of techniques for preventing and addressing ACEs in practice.

Entry requirements
Essential:
Learners must be aged 19 or over
The learner must be working in an appropriate early years setting to be able to meet the assessment requirements of this qualification.
It would also be advantageous for the learner to hold a relevant qualification at level 2 or level 3.

Assessment methods
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods including written assignments, projects, and professional discussions.
Knowledge based outcomes can be assessed using a variety of assessment tasks including assignment, online learning and activities. All assessment methods will be co-ordinated to suit the individual needs of the learner.

This qualification aims to:
• focus on the study of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
• offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
The objectives of this qualification are to enable the learner to:
• explore childhood and family structures
• explore ACEs and understand potential outcomes for children enduring ACEs
• understand the role of the practitioner supporting children impacted by ACEs
• develop strategies to improve outcomes for children affected by ACEs
Learners will complete 3 mandatory units, within a 6month period, these are:
• Unit 01 Exploring childhood and family structures
• Unit 02 Introduction to adverse childhood experiences
• Unit 03 Understand Strategies to improve outcomes for children affected by adverse childhood experiences
This qualification supports professional development to those working with children aged birth to five years.
Please note, this is not a full and relevant Level 2 which can be included in Adult; Child Ratios in a setting or give a Licence to Practice.
