Need to know

Essential:

GCSEs grades 9-1 and a keen interest in the subject OR qualification at Level E3.  Other relevant levels of qualification or experience will be considered.

What qualification will I gain?

Motor Vehicle Maintenance Level 1.

How will I be assessed?

Through observation, online exams, portfolio evidence.

Course content

What will I study?

  • Skills in Health, Safety and Good Housekeeping in the Automotive Environment
  • Skills to Support Working Relationships in the Automotive Work Environment
  • Introduction to Automotive Technology and Workshop Skills
  • Carry out Basic Routine Vehicle Maintenance

What skills will I gain?

Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.

Next steps

Course progression: Level 2 Year 2 in Vehicle Maintenance.

Equipment needed:

PPE is mandatory –

  • Steel toe capped boots or shoes
  • Work trousers or overalls
  • Safety Goggles/glasses
