Tresham College Motor Vehicle Level 2
Motor Vehicle

Ash

My interest in cars started when I began working in my dad’s garage. I did a year on a Mechanics course at College before taking some time out to do the Prince’s Trust work programme, which is a 12 week course. You get to learn new skills, meet new people and gain a qualification.

When I returned to College, I moved on to this Motor Vehicle course and recently won the ‘Most Improved Student’ award for the autumn/winter term.

I really enjoy working on the cars in the workshop. We usually have about six in there and we learn how to work on a car safely and the proper way to do things. This includes working on the brakes, the engine and using equipment such as the airgun to take the nuts off the wheel.

Coming to College has enabled me to learn to do things the right way and my dad also shares his experience with me at home. The tutors let you get on with your work independently during lessons.

Once I finish College I will work with my dad and one day I hope to have my own garage.
