Mechanical Engineering BTEC Level 3 DiplomaThis course is designed for people who are working in a technical role within the engineering industry and are looking to obtain a vocational qualification to support their position or to progress within their organisation. If you are a trainee or an apprentice, this nationally recognised qualification equips you with the knowledge and understanding you need to develop your career in mechanical and manufacturing engineering.

Essential:
You need either:
- Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above in Mathematics (Higher), Science and English Language and one other subject, OR
- Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Merit or above) and GCSE Mathematics
If you are over 21 and partly meet the essential entry criteria above, you may gain entry to the course subject to a successful interview, and will be considered individually on your engineering or industrial experience, knowledge and ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of mathematics and mechanical engineering principles rather than just your qualifications.
During the two-year course you will study a number of subjects (these may change from the list shown):

- Communications for Engineering Technicians
- Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
- Mechanical Principles of Engineering Systems
- Properties & Applications of Engineering Materials
- Engineering Drawing for Technicians
- Electro-Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems and Devices
- Engineering Project
- Applications of Mechanical Systems in Engineering
- Further Mechanical Principles and Applications
- Further Engineering Mathematics
Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge).
Assessment is on a continuing basis and will include phase tests, assignments and presentations.
Successful completion to an appropriate level enables you to progress on to our Mechanical Engineering HNC or similar Level 4 qualifications.
During the course, you will be required to attend for one day a week, for a period of two years. Additional study will be required outside of College.

Funding Information
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over and want to achieve your first full Level 3 qualification (equivalent to an advanced technical certificate, diploma or A-Levels) then this course is free, as part of the National Skills Fund.
Part-time Fee Flow ChartIf you are aged 24 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
