Livestock Production (T Level)This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in the agricultural livestock production sector. When studying a T Level qualification, you will spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a high-quality placement with an employer. This study programme includes a broad range of units to enable you to develop your knowledge and technical skills required to work in livestock production industries. Areas of study include livestock science, machinery operations, business management and sustainable livestock production.

Entry requirements:
4 GCSEs grades 9-4 including English and Maths OR similar vocational qualification at Level 2 including English and Maths.
Qualification:
City and Guilds T Level in Agriculture Land Management and Production – Livestock Production
Assessment methods:
This course will be assessed by exam and synoptic assessment. In the second year there will be a work-based project.
Course content
The course consists of core knowledge and understanding in: Sustainability, Biosecurity, Ethics, Supply Chain, Business, Equality, Relationship Management, Communication, Finance, Health and Safety, Information and Data and Working in the Agricultural Sector. Specialist topics will involve establishing livestock, animal health and welfare, feeding and breeding management, biosecurity and improving sustainable grazing methods.
You will also learn how to maintain the habitats surrounding the production environment to minimise impacts to the wider farm environment whilst also improving livestock performance and quality. Unit content will include: · Animal biology · Animal health and welfare
- Nutrition and feeding
- Animal breeding
- Animal husbandry and environments
- Business management and assurance schemes
- Principles of soil, water and energy codes of practice
- Estate management
- Key environmental legislations
Next steps
Course progression:
On completion of this study programme you could progress on to the Agriculture Foundation Degree (FdSc) here at College, or a university-level course elsewhere, or find employment in the agriculture sector.
Career progression:
Farm Worker, Agricultural Contractor, Livestock Technician, breeding technician, stockman and assurance scheme assessor.
To study this course you will be required to have the following PPE:
- Steel Toe Capped Boots or Wellington Boots
- 2 Pairs of Overalls
A number of trips will be organised in the UK and abroad, and you will also have the opportunity to enter competitions and participate in agriculture shows.
The College works closely with the local community and employers to give you the experience of the working environment. You could also study to achieve the following additional qualifications:
- Level 2 Certificate in competency of Tractor driving
- Level 2 Certificate in competency of Fork lift truck operations
- PA1 Pesticide application Level 2 Certificate in safe use of veterinary medicines
