IT Essentials CISCO Level 2 (CompTIA A+ exam optional) Intensive

Cisco IT Essentials is a comprehensive digital course designed to equip individuals with foundational skills in computer systems, networking, and troubleshooting, making it ideal for those pursuing a career in IT.

This intensive course will focus on all essential areas of IT Support. You will learn a different IT topic each chapter, culminating in an end of course multiple-choice exam.

Please note, this is an intensive 1 week course.

Course content


You will study:

PC, Laptop and Mobile Hardware:

  • Select and install the appropriate computer components to build, repair, and upgrade personal computers.

Safe Working Practices:

  • Explain and carry out how to correctly use tools and safely work in a digital and computing environment.

Networking:

  • Configure computers and devices to communicate on a network, to the Internet and Cloud services.

Security:

  • Implement host, data, and network security measures.
    Identify and protect against security vulnerabilities for devices and their network connections

Windows Operating System Installation:

  • Install Windows operation systems locally, remotely and virtually using a range of tools and practices.

Windows Operating System Configuration:

  • Perform management and maintenance of Windows operating systems. Utilisation of the command line interface to perform administrative activities.

Linux, Mac and Other Operating Systems:

  • Create, manage and configure a range of other operating systems using virtualised environments.
  • Explain types of networks and connections including TCP/IP, WIFI and SOHO

Virtualisation and Cloud:

  • Compare and contrast cloud computing concepts and set up client-side virtualisation

Mobile Devices:

  • Explain how to configure, secure, and troubleshoot mobile, macOS, and Linux operating systems.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Explain and perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on personal computers.

Troubleshooting:

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking and device issues including common OS, malware and security issues

Printers:

  • Install and share a printer to meet requirements

The IT Professional:

  • Explain the roles and responsibilities of the IT professional.
  • Troubleshoot a range of hardware, software, networking and security issues within the controlled environment.
  • Follow best practices for safety, environmental impacts, and communication and professionalism.
